Six weeks after I returned from my second parental leave in early 2021, I quit a job I loved.
Not because I wanted to. Because I had to.
The postpartum fog had lifted and what came into focus was this: I had been completely on my own. My employer gave me time off — technically. But navigating paid leave benefits, understanding job protection laws, fighting to extend my disability coverage for postpartum anxiety? That was all me. Alone. With a newborn. In the middle of a pandemic.
It wasn't until after I quit that I found out I had missed out on 12 weeks of paid parental leave through California's state program — because I simply didn't know I qualified. Twelve weeks. Paid. Gone. And no one had told me. That was the moment I decided I wasn't going to let another mom go through what I had.
I knew I wasn't the only one. And I wasn't willing to let that stay true.
That's why I built Hello Bundle.
The Problem Is Bigger Than Most People Know
Every year, billions of dollars in parental leave benefits go unclaimed in the United States.
Not because parents don't deserve them. Not because they don't qualify. Because the system is deliberately complex, deliberately opaque, and deliberately designed to make people give up before they ever start.

That's not a personal failure. That's a systems failure. And fixing it is what Hello Bundle is built to do.
Why Mission Has to Come First
I want to be transparent about something most companies won't say out loud: we made a deliberate choice to build Hello Bundle around mission, not margin.
That means we give away a lot. Free state guides. Free social media education. Free blog content that most people in this space would charge you for. We publish the information your boss doesn't know, HR doesn't have time to explain, and attorneys would bill you hundreds of dollars to share.
We do this because we believe informed parents are empowered parents — and empowered parents create pressure for systemic change. Every parent who understands their rights is one more voice advocating for better policy. That ripple effect is the whole point.
We're also actively building partnerships with businesses and nonprofits to get these resources into the hands of lower-wage earners, migrant workers, and parents in our communities who don't speak English. Because this information doesn't belong only to people who can afford to find it.

We're Not Done
Four years in, we're still growing — and intentionally so.
We're building a parental leave management software platform that will allow us to serve more families at a lower price point. Because one-on-one consulting isn't the right fit for every parent, and access shouldn't depend on budget. More support, for more people — that's the whole point.
